Sonicbids and CMJ cashes in

It's always funny when somebody makes mistakes. Yesterday we got an email with a 'thanks, but no thanks' regarding one of our artists appearances at the NY music biz festival CMJ. Thing is, you have to pay 45 bucks to apply and create a whole account not unlike creating a proper myspace account. Actually maybe with even more info you would add to a myspace account. This goes on over at the site Sonicbids. They charge you 45$ for all that hassle you have to do for them(wich is, you know, free in the rest of the internetworld).

Our artist was on 'standby' for a long time, but then yesterday we got the definitve no. We got it in an email that didn't surpress the other emails to acts that got a no thank you. It was 675 bands. They all had been on 'standby'. We're not too upset really, but it's pretty obvious Sonicbids and CMJ handles the application process as a business model, earning around 30 000$ in application fees just from the band who made it to 'standby'.
And they didn't even listen to most of the bands, as the Sonicbids site has statistics how many listened to the songs. Ours got '0' listeners. The whole thing just suck. But then again, this is in total line with every experience we have had with the 'biz' so far.

Here you got the story explained out in better english if you didn't grip this.

So, from the bottom of our hearts: Sonicbids and CMJ, sod off and never show your ugly face around here again.

The Power of Music

The timeless topic of gambling and boozing. Today even more timeless then ever with all the Internet poker, toll free liquor and what not kids get their hands on. In all it's conservative and old-fashioned way, it's impossible to be more modern than Townes van Zandt - Waitin around to die.

Stockholm i mitt hjärta

Well this concerns only people living in Stockholm, so it's in swedish.

Tunnelbanan borde gå dygnet runt, alla dagar i veckan.
OK? Ok.

Song of the year

Right up there, just in front of Paris Hiltons "Stars are blind" and Sean Kingstons "Beautiful girls" we think we got a winner: MP3

I'll fly like a paper get high like planes
Catch me at the border I got visas in my name
If you come around here i'll make em all day
I'll get one done in a second if you wait

Sometimes I think sitting on trains
Every step I get to i'm clocking that game
Everyone's a winner, we're making our fame
Bonafide hustler making my name

All I wanna do is

And a

And take your money

Pirate skulls and bones
Sticks and stones and weeds and bombs
Running when we hit em
A leathal poison for the system

No one on the corner had swagger like us
Hit me on the bunner
Pre paid wireless
We pack and deliver like ups trucks
Already going hell
Just pumping that gas

All I wanna do is

And a

And take your money

Some some some I murder
Some a some I let go

This is mia
A third world democracy
I got more records than the kgb

No funny business

Hybris welcomes Rubies!

Hybris welcomes Rubies to our family of artists!
Danceable folk, bedroom disco, and lost love laments; these are just a few facets of Rubies. California-based trio, Rubies are three young ladies clad in fineries, beaming beautifully with mystical symbols adorning their cheeks. Simone Rubi (lead vocals, keyboards) entices the crowd while Terri Loewenthal (bass) keeps them dancing. Add Amy Cooper's shimmering guitar, the harmonies of all three voices and beats provided by machine or borrowed man. While it could be in a crowded avant-garde discotheque in NYC, a motorik infused warehouse in Berlin, or the pine-needle carpeted redwoods of Big Sur, the energy of Rubies will have you floating in colored air.
The first single will be released in october by Hybris in Sweden and House of Tellé in Europe. The album, due early next year, have helping hands from Eirik Glambek-Boe (Kings of Convenience) and his new group "Kommode", Leslie Feist, Karl-Jonas Winqvist (Blood Music), Dan Judd (Sorcerer), Lars Skoglund (Laakso, Peter, Bjorn and John), Maria Eriksson (The Concretes) and a small army of other talented folks from all over the world.

Check out the Rubies myspace for more goodies.

Thursday 6 september they perform at Debaser in Malmö and at friday at 211 in Göteborg if you happen to be in the area. Don't miss it for the world!
